Summer Kids Crafts {Straw Art}

Our summer has really been heating up here in Utah and it’s been so hot this past week we’ve had to take our partying inside a bit. Of course we love to be outside as much as possible and soak up as much summer sun as we can… but every once in a while it’s nice to relax and play inside. We’ve also noticed that our little peanuts might need a little sharpening of the learning skills since they have been out of school now for many weeks. Sometimes something as easy as a little art painting session, simple science experiments and a game of bingo is all you need for a little refresher!

Today we are sharing one really fun + super easy + totally cute summer kids craft project for you to try out this summer. Straw Art! It’s as simple as it sounds. All you need to do is round up a bunch of your left over part straws, paper or plastic, and get to crafting! Help your little peanuts cut out different lengths of straw pieces and arrange them into different shapes and patterns on a piece of paper. Once they have created a masterpiece simple use a little white craft glue to hold them into place. This is the perfect way to get them to use their imagination and have fun with different shapes and colors. Another way you can go about this art project is to let them draw {or help them draw} their favorite summer scene or activity on a piece of paper then let them go over the drawing with cut pieces of the straws. After your craft time is up you will have a new fave art piece to hang in your house!

What are some of your favorite indoor summer time craft projects for kids? We would love for your to share with us!
