Pottery Barn Kids + Star Wars Room Makeover

It feels like this summer has been the fastest yet and we can’t believe that in just a short week our little peanuts will be heading back to school! When this time of year rolls around it’s always got us thinking about updating the kiddos room and getting it organized for the new school year ahead. This year we wanted to completely makeover our boys shared space to updated it + make it feel more like a “cool big boy room”! We partnered with Pottery Barn Kids to create just that! A cool + modern room with a touch of a Star Wars/Space theme. We decided to make this room look more futuristic by keeping the color palette mainly black + white with a few shades of gray + pops of color. It was important for us to find a balance between stylish but also fun, functional + inspiring for our little peanuts.

The wall with the dresser on it is a pretty long wall so we knew we wanted to fill up that space with a great wall gallery. We also partnered with Minted who know offers an incredible selection of stylish wall art that also come with amazing framing options! We just love how the different modern pieces + Star Wars art came together to create a perfect gallery wall for kids!

One way to make a room feel fresh + new and give it a good facelift is simply by painting the room. Before this room was a light blue and we knew we wanted to drastically change that. We decided to use our all time favorite white paint: Extra White by Sherwin-Williams and to make the play nook stand out we decided to go with a contrasting black paint. Can we just say how obsessed we are with black walls right now?! If you are looking for a tried + true black paint we suggest Tricorn Black by Sherwin-Williams.

Hi! I just purchased this bunk bed and am wondering about what size mattresses (# of inches tall) you purchased for both the top and bottom bunk?

  2. Megan says:

a standard twin mattress will work perfect!
