On May 4th we welcomed our sweet baby, River Michael, to the family. We were so incredibly grateful that everything went so well with labor + delivery + most importantly that we were able to welcome a healthy baby! It has been such a blessing. This little one has been the best addition + pure joy. He is so calm + mellow + such a cuddler. Adding a fourth to the family has been so much fun but looking back on the first month it definitely was a bit crazy. Bringing home a baby when you have a busy two year old makes things even busier as you would imagine! Our two year old Scarlett, loves her baby brother but there has also been a bit of jealousy, so navigating through that has been a bit tricky. Making sure she has enough attention while also attending to the needs of a newborn can be not only physically but mentally exhausting. Luckily, my sweet husband stepped up to the plate and more than picked up the slack where I could not. Not only did he do that but so much more! He was able to see when I was struggling and would swoop in to save the day! Whether it be taking Scarlett to the park or on a hike to get out some much needed energy or helping out around the house, which he has done a lot of or implementing scheduled naps + bedtimes, which I struggled with. Creating a routine for her was so key, not only to help her but to also help us. She is doing so well which helps managing two a lot easier. I am still figuring everything out but each day gets easier. I am so grateful to have my amazing husband by my side to help me with all of this that it continually makes me think how do single mommies do this?? So cheers to all the single moms out there, you are my super hero!
We were lucky enough to have the darling Jessica Haderlie capture photos of River + a couple of our new family. She was so great to work with that if you are looking for an amazing photographer I would highly recommend her!
