Peppermint Bark Recipe

Last week we shared our favorite Peppermint Candy Bark recipe on our monthly KUTV 2 News segment and we just had to share it with all of our readers as well! This recipe is our go-to candy every holiday because it’s easy, quick, yummy and oh so pretty! This makes for the perfect treat to bring to a holiday party or wrap it up and give it as a great gift to your neighbors and friends! With only a few simple ingredients you can whip these up quick and they will be sure to impress!

– 1 lb. milk chocolate candy coating bark or chocolate chips

– 1 lb. vanilla candy coating bark or white chocolate chips

– 12-15 peppermint candy canes

– 1 tsp. peppermint extract {optional}

– parchment paper

– 3×9 cooking pan or cookie sheet

Melt your chocolate bark or chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl until smooth. We like to use the chocolate candy coating bark because it’s so easy to melt in the microwave… no fancy candy pans needed! Pour the melted chocolate into the parchment paper lined cooking pan or sheet. Smooth the chocolate around with a spatula to make an even thin layer. Place in the refrigerator to harden for a few minutes.

While the chocolate is hardening repeat the same steps with the vanilla bark or white chocolate. Once it’s melted and smooth you can add a teaspoon of peppermint extract if you want to give it a bit more of a peppermint taste. Pull the chocolate layer out of the fridge and pour the white layer on top smoothing it out with a spatula to make an even thin layer.

Put 12-15 peppermint candy canes into a zip locked baggy and crush into small chunks with  a rolling pin or hammer. Sprinkle desired amount on top of the white layer and place the pan in the fridge for 20-30 minutes until hardened.

Once the candy is hardened take out of the fridge and easily lift the candy out of the pan by lifting up on the parchment paper. Break the candy into smaller pieces of bark. Put on a plate and serve or wrap them up cute to giveaway as a gift! Easy as that!
